Grappling is a self-defense sport with an emphasis on ground combat and is comparable to BJJ. Although this sport also pays attention to throws from wrestling,

the focus is mainly on transitions to dominant control positions, clamps and entanglements on the ground.

Extra information on Grappling

Small and light conquers large and strong
The detailed approach and the broad spectrum of techniques and movements give a smaller and weaker person who does grappling (and BJJ)  the chance to win a fight from a larger and stronger opponent.

Decide the battle on the ground
In many cases Grapplers decide the battle on the ground. A person who is not trained in the ground fight will lose out here regardless of his strength. The combination of throws, take-downs, control positions, clamps and enclosures make both grappling and BJJ two highly effective self-defense sports.

How are the classes organized?
During the Tuesday training we focus more on soil techniques. Grappling and BJJ are a great addition to each other because of their large overlap. Most ground fighters therefore train both disciplines.

Grappling VS BJJ
Grappling is practiced in shorts and a rash guard or t-shirt. The sport is very similar in terms of game form and regulations. Yet you soon notice that due to the difference in dress, the application of techniques is very different. BJJ is practiced in a gi / kimono. With grappling you have much less hold on your opponent, which makes the game more physical and explosive.
